From Tom Schabel, Alexandria Extrusion Company, CEO.
As of Thursday, April 28, 2011, the U.S.International Trade Commission has returned a favorable ruling for the United States aluminum extrusion producers. This ruling will bring about change to the U.S. extrusion industry, and the manufacturers using these products.
Some extruders will see an increase in their lead times, as they respond to the increase in demand for their products now being sourced within the U.S. instead of China. Alexandria Extrusion Company has anticipated this increase in need. As a result of our implementation of Quick Response Manufacturing, we have pre-planned capacity available and have prepared ourselves to respond to this additional business in a favorable way. Our customers should not be negatively impacted by this increase in extrusion demand.
Because of the increased demand for U.S. aluminum extrusions, the supply of aluminum billet may be affected. The relationships with our suppliers are extremely strong, and plans are in place to see that we have ample billet supply for the needs of our customers.
For more details on the product affected by this ruling, please go to the Aluminum Extruders Council website.
If you are an existing customer of AEC, rest assured that this ruling should not impact your current domestically produced supply.
For those customers attempting to move or considering moving your products back to the United States, please give us a call today at 1-800-568-6601. We would like to share with you some valuable things to consider when selecting your extruder.
