Tom Schabel Tom Schabel, president and owner of Alexandria Extrusion Company (AEC), with 26 years of experience in the aluminum extrusion industry, came on board as Plant Manager in 1987. The company continues to build on its 30+ year reputation for industry-leading quality and innovation while also aggressively pursuing new and exciting market opportunities like those in the medical equipment industry. "At AEC we believe in working closely with customers to create solutions," said Schabel. "That makes us a perfect fit for medical product customers requiring the design freedom and flexibility we provide. "Our people have the expertise and knowledge - not to mention the experience - to look at a situation and see how our processes can be maximized to meet specific customer needs," he added. "We've built our reputation on that." In 1998, Schabel and the 300 employees of Alexandria Extrusion Company were honored to receive both the Minnesota Council for Quality's Gold Award and the Minnesota Governor's International Trade Award. More recently, AEC has been singled out for its role in the design and manufacture of medical products when its customers were awarded the 2002 MedTrade Best New Product Innovation Award; the 2002 MedTrade Best New Product Distinction Award; and the prestigious 2003 MDEA Medical Design Excellence Award. "We're committed to using aluminum and the aluminum extrusion process as a start to providing solutions," Schabel concluded. "We use technology everywhere we can, but what it comes down to is our people. People making a difference."
